Eligible Ag Operations
Most Ag Customers of PG&E and SCE Are Eligible
Most Ag customers served by PG&E and SCE are eligible for Demand Response programs. However, PG&E and SCE have the authority to set the requirements for their Demand Response programs and ultimately determine who is eligible to participate. For the most part, programs are restricted to heavy users of electricity who have the ability to significantly reduce or shut down loads during peak demand events. This typically means that many types of Ag operations can qualify:
Irrigation/ Water Pumping. Ag operations with larger pumps (typically 250 hp or higher) that draw electric loads of 200 kW or more can earn thousands of dollars in incentives per pump. Demand Response monitoring and control equipment makes it easy to shift pumping times from peak to non-peak hours, without requiring manual intervention.
Food Processing / Cold Storage. Polaris Energy Services has identified key areas where Demand Response programs can significantly reduce energy costs at your cold storage or food processing facility without hindering production performance. Our ability to accommodate shifting harvest patterns enables us to custom design an plan for your facility that generates maximum incentives.
Water Treatment / Water Pumping. Energy costs for pumping water can be one of the biggest expenses for water treatment facilities. Demand Response lets you take control of your energy expense with easy-to-implement programs that can be set up to avoid disruption while earning thousands in incentives from PG&E and SCE.
Other Ag. For dairies, wineries, and other Ag operations that have significant electric loads, our expertise and long experience in California agriculture enable us to design and deploy a Demand Response program that will greatly reduce electricity expense without impacting operations of your Ag business.
